COTA BELIEVE Team to Host Second of Four Produce Giveaways June 18 at Livingston and Barnett Park and Ride
The Central Ohio Transit Authority’s (COTA) African American Employee Resource Group (ERG) will host the second of four “COTA Produce Stand” food distribution events on Wednesday, June 18, beginning at 3 p.m. at the COTA Livingston & Barnett Park and Ride, located at 3380 E. Livingston Ave. in East Columbus.
Fresh fruit and vegetables will be available for families in need, provided by the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, and packed and distributed by COTA’s BELIEVE Team. BELIEVE stands for Black Employees Leading In Inclusion, Excellence, Vision, and Education. It is a group led by COTA employees, empowered to help the communities they serve.
The BELIEVE team has distributed food to families in Linden since 2022 to help a community with limited access to fresh produce. The group will distribute more than 8,000 pounds of food in just a few hours on Wednesday. Food will be available for pick-up on a first-come, first-served basis. Two more produce stands are scheduled for August and October.
COTA encourages the media to share in advance with their audiences. Media interested in attending the food distribution on Wednesday afternoon should arrive no later than 4:00 p.m., as the distribution goes very quickly.
