On-Time Performance – COTA

On-Time Performance

How does COTA measure on-time performance?

Our attempt is to always run on schedule. However, circumstances may impact a bus causing it to run ahead of, or behind schedule. The on-time performance policy states that a bus may run up to 4 minutes and 59 seconds (4:59) behind schedule before it is considered late. Buses are not permitted to run ahead of schedule, except some Express lines, which may run five (5) minutes ahead of schedule as indicated on the line’s specific timetable.

Here are a few examples of how we measure on-time performance: A bus that departs one (1) second before the scheduled time is considered “early.” A bus that departs five (5) minutes after the scheduled time is considered “late.” These differences are represented in the image below.

Between a line’s scheduled time points (the circled numbers on your timetable), a bus may get ahead of schedule. For that reason, COTA recommends customers get to their bus stop five (5) minutes before the scheduled time of arrival.
