COTA Celebrates Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Friday, March 17
COLUMBUS—Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus operators don’t have an easy job, they just make it
look that way! Every day, they help move our community forward. For hours on end, they manage to keep a
schedule, check fares, give directions, announce stops, remember stop requests and more, all while safely
maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, adverse weather conditions and some really
tight spaces.
Have you thanked your bus driver lately? COTA is celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Fri., Mar.
Join COTA in celebrating the contributions of our hard-working bus operators. Offer a smile and a wave when
you board the bus, and a “thank you” when you leave. Any time of year, you can submit an official
commendation to COTA Customer Service at (614) 228-1776 for a job well done, so your drivers can be
formally recognized for their efforts.
Thank you cards are available for free in the lobby of COTA’s administrative office at 33 N. High St., or you can
print cards available at transitdriverday.org to show your appreciation in person. On social media, use the
hashtag #tdad to help spread the word.
Transit Driver Appreciation Day was conceived in 2009 by transit riders in Seattle as a way to honor the many
hard-working men and women who keep us all moving every day.
