About CMAX
COTA’s first Bus Rapid Transit line, CMAX, will link more than 211,000 residents and 170,000 workers
along Cleveland Avenue to jobs, healthcare and educational resources and encourage economic
development in the corridor. The 15.6-mile route will serve customers every 10 minutes between
Downtown Columbus and SR-161 during rush hours, with service to Polaris Parkway/Africa Road every
30 minutes. Stations, including the new Northland Transit Center and upgraded Northern Lights Park &
Ride, will feature LCD real-time bus information screens connected to on-board GPS systems. Local
artwork will be incorporated into 33 stops. Customers will enjoy new branded buses that offer free onboard
WiFi and power charging ports to keep them connected on their trip. Traffic signal priority and
limited stops will allow customers to reach their destinations up to 21 percent faster. Construction will
begin in August 2016 and continue through 2017, with service launching in January 2018.
