Prior to starting at COTA as a bus Operator trainee, you must obtain a Class B CDL Temporary permit. The instructional permit is valid for 6 months and the fee is $25.50.
To obtain the permit you will need to pass 3 written tests...
1. General Knowledge-Class B
2. Passenger Endorsement
3. Air Brake Endorsement (Removing the Air Brake Restriction)
You will obtain the CDL permit at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Go to the local BMV office for information or visit their website at www.bmv.ohio.gov.
Materials to study for the exam:
Commercial Driver License Manual: You may obtain a copy of the manual at a BMV office. You may also view the manual online at www.bmv.ohio.gov. Study sections 1 through 5.
