Service Area and Stakeholders

COTA serves 562 square miles, including all of Franklin County and portions of Delaware, Union, Licking and Fairfield Counties, runs 69 lines (Local, Express, and Crosstown) serves over 3,000 stops, 350 passenger shelters, 28 Park and Rides, and provides ADA accessibility through our Mainstream Service.

Our stakeholders include 1.2 million taxpayers, 62,000 daily rides, and 950 employees.

Ridership

In 2014, COTA experienced the highest ridership since 1986, exceeding 19.3 million trips. COTA led the nation for ridership increases in 2011, growing nearly 10.2% over 2010. 

Financial Management

Current COTA funding comes largely from the following sources:

  • 0.50% total sales tax revenue source

    • 0.25% permanent sales tax
    • 0.25% 10 year renewable sales tax (last renewed in 2006)

For the 23rd year, COTA received Excellence in Financial Reporting recognition for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report from the Government Finance Officers Association.
