New Build: Mobility Services Facility

COTA has completed a new facility for its paratransit operations.

Location: 1330 Fields Ave

Size: 104,000 square feet

Purpose: Houses up to 104 paratransit vehicles and serves as the headquarters for COTA Mobility Services administrative staff.
Timing: Building was completed in January 2011.

New: Mobility Assessment Center

COTA has completed a new Mobility Assessment Center.

Location: Within the new Mobility Services Facility.

Size: 3,000 square feet

Purpose: In compliance with Federal Guidelines, the goal of the Mobility Assessment Center is to simulate environmental conditions that an individual would encounter while utilizing public transportation. Individuals will be assessed to determine their capability to ride public transportation. Those incapable of maneuvering and navigating the challenges of the center would be eligible for the Paratransit program.
Timing: The center was completed in March 2011.

Addition: Assessment Center Mural

A streetscape mural of the Short North area contributes artistically and aesthetically to the new Mobility Assessment Center. 

Location: Within the new Mobility Services Facility.

Purpose: Representatives from the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus Museum of Art, Central Ohio Transit Authority and VSA Ohio volunteered their time and expertise to identify artwork that was placed throughout the facility.

Central Ohio artist John Sunami was selected by the panel to create the mural piece, which was specifically designed for the eligibility Assessment Center.

Renovation: Fields Avenue Facility

COTA's extensive renovations to its Fields Avenue Facility are completed.
